The agreement between power-plant operators and the Confederation in the dispute of the nuclear phase-out, which was formally concluded with the transfer 24.17 billion euros of the companies on 3 July 2017, brings to both sides the long-sight legal certainty. Costs of the storage of radioactive wastes resulting from the decomission of the last nuclear power plants, as well as the costs for the search, construction, and operation of a spent-fuel repository will in future be borne by a federal foundation.
