Effect of γ-radiation on the adsorption of Sr (II) on bentonite Jelsovy potok

Description
One of the basic prerequisites for the use of Slovak bentonite with a deep final storage of radioactive waste and spent nuclear fuel is their stability against exposure to ionizing radiation, which comes from radionuclides present in irradiated fuel cells and waste. The contribution is focused on comparison of adsorption properties of bentonite from Slovak bearing Jelsovy potok, before and after irradiation with 60Co gamma-source with an absorbed dose of gamma-radiation 1 MGy. Changes of adsorption properties were studied by the method of radioisotope indication, using radioisotope strontium-85. Changes in the structure were studied by the method of electron spin resonance. (authors)
