The search for the dark matter: WIMPs and MACHOs
Description
In this presentation the author discusses the candidates for dark matter and means of detecting these potential dark matter sources. The candidates discussed are axions, Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs), Massive Astrophysical Compact Halo Objects (MACHOs), light neutrinos, and non-Newtonian gravity. These dark matter candidates are experimentally accessible and, if detected, may help answer the question about what comprises the primary constituent of the Universe. 40 refs., 4 figs., 2 tabs
