Customization of RODOS expert system for use in Romania

Description
In the frames of the PECO-FI4P - CT95 - 0007 and INCO COPERNICUS IC15 - CT96 - 0318 contracts the following research activities are developed: 1. The developing a geographic data base RoGIS, concerning the zones of nuclear interest for Romania (Cernavoda, Pitesti, Bechet). In this frame an information service concerning dwelling and industrial areas, land-use, traffic net-works, administrative boarder lines, hydrological data for Cernavoda area has been put in operation. 2. The coupling of IFIN-HH meteorological tower and RODOS system has been done, based on a dedicated software to adapt the meteorological information to the requirements of RODOS system. 3. The RODOS Data Base of Countermeasure and Emergency Management Data has been developed. It implied collecting of data for long term countermeasure application and the definition of five radiological data for Romania. From the study of five severe accident scenarios at CANDU-NPP, early countermeasures were obtained for the area around city of Cernavoda regarding: the intake of iodine tablets; - evacuation of population; - sheltering; - relocation based on simulated meteorological conditions. 4. The assessment of doses and dose rates in a neighbourhood of CANDU NPP in case of core disassembly. Based on accident scenarios and using Complementary Cumulative Frequency Distribution Technique (CCFD) dose rates for I-131, Cs-137 and H-3 and effective potential doses were obtained. In the case of an Early Core Disassembly the following data were obtained: - a lower limit dose rate of 4 x 10-4 Sv/h for I-131 deposition and 10-4 Sv/h for Cs-137; - a lower limit potential week dose of 7 Sv and a lower limit 50 year inhalation dose of 3 x 10-1 Sv. The above estimations refer to a 2 - 8 Km zone around CANDU-NPP using 340 meteorological sequences. (authors)
