Radiation damage in thin sheet fibreglass insulators

Description

As applied to structural behaviour, ''radiation damage'' is defined as the reduction in load-carrying ability resulting from exposure to radiation. A programme of irradiation and test is outlined which explores thin sheets of fiberglass composite with an organic matrix under cyclic comprehensive load. Rationale and failure criterion are defined and initial tests described. Tests on irradiated specimens are described in detail. Evidence is presented to show at RT to support the rationale that thin sheet graphite can withstand the ITR radiation and compression loading environment. Future tests are proposed
