Radiation transfer in dense plasmas

Description

The expression for the enhanced radiation transfer Q, due to the quantum nature of the plasmon-electron interaction, is derived in a form facilitating the analysis of the approximations made. The approximations are discussed and Q is evaluated. It is found that the temperature and density dependence of Q can be expressed by the single parameter up equivalent (h/2π) W sub(p) / K sub(B) T, where (h/2π) W sub(p) is the plasmon energy, T is the temperature and K sub(B) is Boltzmann's constant. When electron scattering dominates the opacity and up approximatelly equal 0.2, for example, it is found that Q approximatelly equal 1.5 (i.e. the radiation transfer is 50% enhanced). (L.C.)

Abstract (Portuguese)

Deriva-se a expressao para a transferencia de radiacao aumentada Q, devido a natureza quantica da interacao plasmon-eletron, numa forma que facilita a analise das aproximacoes feitas. Discutem-se as aproximacoes e calcula-se Q. Encontra-se que a dependencia de Q na temperatura e na densidade pode ser expressa por um simples parametro up equivalente (h/2π) W sub(p) / K sub(B) T, onde (h/2π) W sub(p) e a energia do plasmon, T e a temperatura e K sub(B) e a constante de Boltzamann. Quando o espalhamento dos eletrons dominam a opacidade de up aproximadamente igual 0.2, por exemplo, encontra-se que Q aproximadamente igual 1.5 (isto e, a transferencia de radiacao e 50% aumentada).
