Energy transfer to hydrogen by neutrons up to 30 MeV

Creators

Description

Calculations of energy transfer (kerma) for neutrons from 0.1 MeV to 30 MeV are presented for hydrogen based on the differential elastic scattering cross sections of Hopkins and Breit (3). This work is a recalculation of the tabulation of Bach and Caswell (1) based on these more recent cross sections. The value of the kerma reaches a maximum at about 16 MeV and decreases slowly at higher energies.
