Experience in safeguards implementation at a European Research Institute

This article is a review of the experiences in safeguards implementation at the Belgium SCK-CEN nuclear research institute. A technical description of their reactor facilities is provided, their current operational status is reviewed, and materials management/safeguards issues associated with each of them is noted. The regulatory basis for nuclear materials management for a non-nuclear weapons state inside the European Union is provided
