Selective photoionization of Sodium atoms

Creators

Description

Sodium photoionization by selective two photon absorption has been achieved via laser interaction with an effusive type atomic beam. The spectra physics ring dye laser with R6G dye, was tuned to generate 5889.953 A to selectively excite the Sodium atomic beam to3P3/2 level from ground state 3S1/2. The second photon in U.V. range was obtained from all lines mode argon ion laser at a power of 100 mW
