Radiation hardening of plasticized epoxide resins
Description
The effect of modification of glycidylmethacrylate with plasticizers of the processes of its structuring under the ionizing radiations was studied. Radiation setting was accomplished on glass, aluminium, iron, and copper supports with the use of an electron accelerator at a dose rate of 0.5 Mrad/s in air and under a dacron film. Unsaturated oligoethers served as plasticizers. By changing the plasticizer ontent in the system it is possible to obtain a polymer with preassigned properties. For thermomechanical tests, the specimens were irradiated on a cobalt unit. Set systems show a sufficiently high thermal stability, which increases with the radiation dose
