Radiation-stimulated cyclic redox processes in minerals and specificity of their manifestation

  • 1. AN Ukrainskoj SSR, Kiev (Ukrainian SSR). Inst. Geokhimii i Fiziki Mineralov

Description

The possibility of running in nature of radiation-induced cyclic redox processes with iron ion presence in structures Ca-, Na- amphiboles is established. The moving forces of these processes are radiation (primary) and thermal (secondary) energies. The first one determines oxidation directivity of processes and generates radiation-oxidized Fe3+ ions, the second one - reducing and restores iron cations to the initial two-valent state. Application of NGR to study of the nature of radiation and thermal transformations of Ca- Na- amphibole structure permitted to detect crystallo-chemical features determining the position of the mineral system in redox cycles on the way of its evolution
