Description
Cadmium is detectable without any disturbance by direct injection of Cd-containing microorganisms (unicellular green algae) into the graphite furnace of an atomic absorption instrument, if the decomposition temperature is increased to 7000C. This has been done without loss of the trace method by charging the input suspension with a 107 fold molar excess of (NH4)2SO4. The precision of the uncomplicated method is compared to the results of Cd-analysis after HNO3-decomposition. (author)
