Efficiency of insulative gaskets in bimetal corrosion protection

Description

Problems of evaluationg efficiency of isolation elements (filters, washers, etc.) used for electric insulation of heterogeneous metallic structures operating in corrosive media are considered. Using solution fo the problem of current distribution in case of contact corrosion during electrochemical interaction fo disk and circular coplanar concentric electrodes by way of example, basic regularities of corrosion rate decrease depending on parameters of insulative gaskets in case of incomplete electric separation of metal parts, were revealed. The optimal ratios between the gaskets thickness and characteristic dimensions of interacting parts were ascertained
