Determination of 90Sr in environmental samples in the presence of 95Zr, 95Nb, 106Ru, 134Cs, 137Cs, 144Ce
Description
Efficiency of the existing methods of 90Y purification (90Sr daughter decay product from interfering radionuclides under radiometric determination of 90Sr by 90Y in environmental samples (soil, lucerne) is studied. It is shown that permanganate and sulfate methods of 90Y purification from 144Ce are not efficient enough. Three-fold purification by iron hydroxide under 0.3-0.6 nCu and 5-6 nCu activity levels allow one to produce 90Y preparations with 144 Ce traces. For reliable 90Y purification from cesium isotopes it is recommended to realize their coprecipitation with cobalt ferrocyanite and oxalate precipitation under radioactive cesium content of no more than 1.5 nCu per a sample
