Propagation of waves through a float glass laminate

Description
Recent work has shown that failure of plates bonded together during impact has shaped the pulse transmitted through materials [Kanel, G. I., et al., J. Appl. Phys. 92, 5045-5052 (2002)]. Some of the features of their recorded pulse were noted by using particle interferometers to track the motion of interfaces. In this work high-speed photography has been used to monitor interfaces and multiple, embedded stress gauges were used to record the evolving stress level as it tracked through the laminate. Interpretation of the data was compared with the particle velocity work and related to the failure phenomena that occur at the interfaces
