Description
Aircraft and satellite aerial photographs represent indispensible tools for environmental observation today. They contribute to a systematic inventory of important environmental parameters such as climate, vegetation or surface water. Their great importance lies in the continuous monitoring of large regions so that changes in environmental conditions are quickly detected. This book provides an overview of the capabilities of remote sensing in environmental monitoring and in the recognition of environmental problems as well as of the usefulness of remote sensing data for environmental planning. Also addressed is the role of remote sensing in the monitoring of natural hazards such as earthquakes and volcano eruptions as well as problems of remote sensing technology transfer to developing countries. Abstract (German)
Flugzeug- und Satellitenaufnahmen stellen heute unverzichtbare Hilfsmittel der Umweltbeobachtung dar. Sie tragen zur systematischen Bestandsaufnahme wichtiger Umweltparameter, wie z.B. des Klimas, der Vegetation oder des Oberflaechenwassers bei. Ihre grosse Bedeutung liegt in der kontinuierlichen Ueberwachung grosser Gebiete, so dass Veraenderungen von Umweltbedingungen schnell erkennbar werden. Dieses Buch bietet einen Ueberblick ueber die Moeglichkeiten der Fernerkundung bei der Umweltbeobachtung und bei der Erkennung von Umweltproblemen sowie ueber die Verwertbarkeit von Fernerkundungsdaten bei der Umweltplanung. Eingegangen wird auch auf die Fernerkundung bei der Ueberwachung von Naturgefahren, wie Erdbeben und Vulkanausbrueche, sowie auf die Probleme des Transfers der Fernerkundungstechnologie in Entwicklungslaender.
