Ionization dynamics of multiply charged ions in intense laser fields

  • 1. Max-Planck-Institut fuer Kernphysik, Heidelberg (Germany)

Description

The ionization dynamics is an essential process of the interaction of atoms with intense laser fields. In order to compensate the high atomic field strength in hydrogen-like multiply charged ions, strong laser fields are necessary to stimulate the ionization dynamics. We focus on the investigation of the initial ionization process, when the electron leaves the nucleus. The angular distribution of the outgoing electron provides a tool to determine the associated field strength, which is experimentally difficult to measure. The analysis of the ionization process is carried out by solving the Dirac equation in two dimensions, where the magnetic field force of the laser field is taken into account
