[1-¹³C] Naphthalene: Synthesis, NMR Spectra, ESR Spectrum of the Radical Anion, and Attempts at Automerization
Description
[1‐13 C]Naphthalene was synthesized from [1‐13 C]‐4‐Phenylbutyric acid (from 1‐bromo‐3‐phenylpropane and [13 C] carbon dioxide), [1‐13 C]Tetralone, and [1‐13 C]Tetralin. 1 H‐NMR and 13 C‐NMR spectra as well as the ESR spectrum of the radical anion are discussed. Using the aforementioned three magnetic resonance methods, it was shown that an aluminum chloride-catalyzed automerization of naphthalene does not occur under the conditions specified in the literature.
Abstract (German)
Additional details
