Primary treatment of inoperable breast cancer by orthovoltage x-ray or cobalt irradiation

Description

Results with inoperable breast cancer treatment using orthovoltage x-ray and cobalt irradiation were compared. 100 patients were treated with primary and 139 patients by secondary irradiation. The ratio of complete regression was significantly higher in the telecobalt group. 5-year survival showed no significant difference in the two groups. The megavoltage therapy has some advantages to the cobalt irradiation treatment. (R.P.) 24 refs.; 4 figs
