Adsorption of uranium from waste water using active macro pore silica gel

Description
The adsorption of uranium by the active macro pore silica gel from waste water was studied. Experiments were carried out to investigate the effects of contact time, solution pH and concentration of F- on the uranium sorption equilibration. The calculation of uranium sorption from waste water including F on the fixed-bed is founded. The experimental results shows that the contact time is about 10∼15 mins when the concentration of uranium is less than 50 mg L-1. Adjusting pH from 8.0 to 9.0 is more suitable for the uranium adsorption onto silica gel. The uranium adsorption capacity onto silica gel decreases while the concentration of F- increases. The uranium adsorption capacity onto silica gel is not less than 20.5 mg/g dry silica gel As initial aqueous solution, NH3•H2 0-U02F2 system on the conditions of [U] = 23.0 mg L-1, [F-] = 20 g L-1, pH = 8.0∼9.0, 20 mins. contact time the number of transfer units is 13.03 through graphic trough graphic integration.
