Influence of 60Co γ radiation on the crystal structure of aromatic polyamides containing -CH2-, -O-, -S-, and -SO2-groups between the aromatic rings
Description
The influence of 60Co γ radiation on the crystal structure of aromatic polyamides containing in the main chain -CH2- (1), -O- (2), -S- (3) and -SO2- (4) groups between the aromatic rings, was studied. It has been discovered that the degree of crystallinity of polymers is relatively low. It ranges from 30.0% (4) to 50.3% (2). Besides, great sensitivity of the crystalline phase towards ionizing radiation has been observed. Polyamide (1) reveals the biggest oxygen induced drop in the degree of crystallinity, while polyamide (4) shows the smallest one. (author)
