Device for supporting toroidal coils

Description

Object: To permit toroidal coils in a torus type nuclear fusion reactor to be supported such that it can sufficiently withstand even a large electromagnetic force by so arranging as to support the centripetal force directed toward the center of the toroidal coils not only by the bending moment of the coil supports but also by the compression of the bases. Structure: In an apparatus where a plurality of toroidal coils are supported in a radial arrangement in a circumferential direction between opposite bases via coil supports, one of the bases is provided with integral projections in engagement with the coil support, while the portion of contact between the other base and coil support is provided with a key groove, in which a key is inserted. Thus, the centripetal force directed toward the center of the toroidal coils is supported not only by the bending moment of the coil supports but also by the compression of the opposite bases.
