Magnetorotational collapse of an iron stellar core

Description
A discription is given of an investigation of the collapse of a star with a very high rotational rate and a very strong magnetic field. The objective of the calculations is to see whether neutron-rich matter could be ejected in an amount sufficient to account for the production of neutron-rich isotopes much heavier than iron, called r-process elements. Several stellar collapse models were studied. One called ROTB being the most likely candidate for r-process nucleosynthesis. (SC)
