Examination of the combined effect of radon and smoking on Czech uranium miners by using the threshold energy model

  • 1. Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Informatics, Comenius University, Bratislava (Slovakia)
  • 2. National Radiation Protection Institute, Prague (Czech Republic)

Description

The threshold energy model was used to examine the synergic effect of radon and smoking and to compare their influence on the lung cancer risk. The calculated values can be crudely compared with the epidemiological geometric mixture models devised by Tomášek, who statistically evaluated epidemiological lung cancer data for miners working in Jáchymov and Příbram mines.
