Effect of nitrogen and oxygen impurities on dissolution and metal mass transfer in lithium and sodium melts

Description

Temperature dependences of solubility of molybdenum at 700-1200 deg C and vanadium at 600-800 deg C in liquid lithium in the presence of nitrogen impurity are obtained. The effect of nonmetallic impurities on mass transfer in the systems molybdenum-lithium-steel, vanadium-lithium-steel and iron-sodium-nickel is investigated. Mechanism of the effect of nitrogen and oxygen in lithium and sodium melts on isothermal mass transfer is suggested
