Description

Several samples of Fe- and Si-doped Al, heat treated doped Al and gamma irradiated Al were prepared carefully. On these specimens extensive measurements have been carried out comprising electrical resistivity, microhardness, stress-strain relations, and X-ray diffraction before and after gamma irradiation. Results indicated that Fe and Si doping of pure Al at high temperatures caused an increase in the electrical and mechanical values. Further increase of these data was observed after gamma irradiation. Moreover, the structure parameters obtained from X-ray measurements decreased by doping and gamma irradiation. Results obtained were interpreted in terms of the interactions of the dopant atom with the existing lattice defects and/or gamma absorbed dose. (author)
