Adrenal incidentaloma: management approaches: CT - MRI

The adrenal gland may be affected by several pathologies, and the detection of an adrenal nodule may occur during the work-up of a biological abnormality, oncologic work-up, or be incidental. Endocrinological and imaging work-up is required in all cases. Cross-sectional imaging has had a great impact on the diagnostic work-up of adrenal nodules. CT, without and with intravenous contrast, is the first line imaging study for evaluation of adrenal nodules. A spontaneous density below 10 HU confirms the benign nature of a nodule. When lesions cannot be characterized, postcontrast CT or MR imaging , including in and out of phase imaging, may allow diagnosis. (authors)
