Description
We present a detailed magnetization study on the intermetallic compound UNi2Ge2 which orders antiferromagnetically around TN ∼ 78 K. Distinct irreversibility and metastable behaviour are observed below TN in applied fields H ≤ 1 T. With small Ce doping, TN is slightly suppressed but the irreversibility becomes more prominent. Our study highlights the difficulty in defining a few specific macroscopic magnetic characteristics which can be used to distinguish an antiferromagnet unequivocally from a spin glass. (Author)
