Description
A study was conducted to examine ELF electric and magnetic fields (E- and B- fields) in the vicinity of ultrahigh voltage overhead power transmission lines and substations. Both the planar-type electric field probe and a multiturn loop field sensor were specially developed for measuring E- and B- fields three-dimensionally. The measurements were made at a 345 kV power substation and under overhead transmission lines. It was shown that E- and B- field distributions differed in the horizontal arrangement of conductors from the vertical arrangement of bundle conductors. The B- field strength around the substation and the overhead transmission lines was independent of the height above the ground in the range from 0.5 to 2 m. 7 refs., 1 tab., 10 figs
