Roentgen centenary - 100 years of X-rays

Description
In 1995 it is 100 years since Roentgen discovered X-rays, and the event is celebrated all over the world. Many myths about Roentgen and his discovery have developed as a result of the rather spectacular properties of X-rays and the somewhat accidental way in which they were found. This paper is an attempt to present the discovery in its proper context using contemporary and reliable sources. (author)
