Natural gamma-radiation spectrometry in a complex nuclear-geophysical exploration of alumite ores

Description

A rational combination of nuclear geophysics well logging methods ia substantiated which allows one to undertake a lithologic and facies separation of cross-sections of rocks in a formation of secondary quartzites and a sampling of alunite ores. The results of employing this combination in the alunite deposits of Soviet Central Asia and Kamchatka are reported. A great informative value is shown of the spectrometry of natural gamma radiation, of the parameters determined by it: the intensity of potassium gamma radiation and the ratios of the intensities of the gamma radiations of uranium and thorium isotopes both in the separation of a cross-section and evaluating the field reserves of alunites. This make gamma logging play the leading part in the combination of nuclear methods under the geological conditions of alunite deposits
