Act N0 65-956 of 12 November 1965 on the third party liability of operators of nuclear ships

Description
This Act determines the liability of operators of nuclear ships according to the general principles of the Paris Convention. In particular, such operators are solely liable for nuclear damage caused by a nuclear incident up to a limit of 500 millions French francs. With regard to French nuclear ships and insofar as the security provided by the operator is insufficient to meet claims for which he is liable up to the above-mentioned limit, the State intervenes to that amount. La presente Loi determine la responsabilite civile des exploitants de navires nucleaires conformement aux principes generaux de la Convention de Paris. Il est prevu notamment que ces exploitants sont exclusivement responsables de dommages nucleaires dus a un accident nucleaire, le montant de cette responsabilite etant limite a 500 millions de francs francais. En ce qui concerne les navires nucleaires francais et dans la mesure ou la garantie fournie par l'exploitant ne permettrait pas de regler des indemnites a sa charge dans les limites de ce montant, l'Etat intervient a concurrence de cette sommeFiles
