Removal of pollutants in wastewater using electron beam technology

Description
This paper studies the effectiveness of pollutants removal using electron beam technology. Irradiation of wastewater using electron beam has resulted into pollutants removal. The characteristics of initial sample studied for BOD, COD and pH were 147-175 mg/l, 300 mg/l and 3.73, respectively. The BOD was reduced from 175 mg/l (without pH adjustment) and 147 (with pH adjustment) to 27 mg/l (without pH adjustment) and 47 mg/l (with pH adjustment). COD also showed removal after the treatment. This indicated the removal of the organic pollutants present in wastewater after treated with electron beam irradiation. (Author)
