Sintered steels of high resistance alloyed to Nb, Mo, Mn and Si

Description

Sinterability, homogenization and mechanical properties of Nb-Mo-Mn-Si alloyed steels obtained by means of compaction and sintering at 12500C, are investigated on the basis of dilatometry, microstructural analysis, and tensile and hardness properties. The alloy components are combined on a single master alloy (in adequate proportions) wich presents only phases with easy dissolution ib iron, resulting in improvement of the kinectics of sintering and homogenization processes. Optimal compositions show simultaneously an excelent dimensional stability during sintering and strength superior to 920 MPa and up to 1250 MPa when an additional heat treatment is made. (Author)

Abstract (Portuguese)

A sinterizacao, homogeneizacao e propriedades mecanicas de acos obtidos por compactacao a frio e sinterizacao a 12500C, utilizando os elementos de liga Nb, Mo, Mn e Si, sao analisadas com base em resultados dilatometricos e microestruturais, e ensaios de tracao e dureza. Os elementos de liga encontram-se todos, nas proporcoes adequadas, numa unica liga mestre (masteralloy) que apresenta somente fases de facil dissolucao no ferro, influenciando beneficamente a cinetica dos processos de sinterizacao e homogeneizacao. Composicoes otimas mostram uma excelente estabilidade dimensional durante a sinterizacao, associada a resistencias superiores a 920MPa ou ate 1250MPa quando da realizacao de tratamentos termicos adicionais.
