Uptake of phosphorus from applied Ca(H2PO4)2 and Na3PO4 by Dhaincha (Sesbania aculeata Pers.) in relation to exchangeable sodium in soil

Description
Increased soil exchangeable sodium percentage (ESP) caused a decrease in the dry matter yield and content of Ca and Mg in plant tops. Sodium content increased gradually but no trend was observed for K, total P and P from added sources. Percent contribution of P from added sources did not differ much in response to ESP. The total uptake of P and P from added sources were more in Ca(H2PO4)2 than Na3PO4 treatment. Percent contribution of P from these sources was more or less equal. The content of total P, P from added sources and percent contribution of P from added sources were significantly more in 50 ppm P than 25 ppm P treatment. Phosphorus compounds used in the study were labelled with 32P. (author)
