Fuel assembly
Description
Purpose: To enable effective utilization of plutonium as fuels for light water cooled reactors. Constitution: In a fuel assembly comprising a plurality of fuel rods arranged in a lattice-like manner each containing a mixture of plutonium oxide and uranium oxide or only uranium oxide as fissionable material, fuel rods only containing uranium oxide are disposed at the peripheral portion on the side of inserting a control rod and fuel rods containing the mixture of plutonium oxide and uranium oxide are arranged in other portions within the fuel assembly.
