Description
A method is described for the determination of relative efficiencies of an M-306 Bendix multiplier for neutrals and ions. In these measurements, helium ions and neutrals having energies 2-5 keV are used: the beam of neutral particles is obtained by a charge transfer technique. The relative efficiency of the Bendix multiplier for the neutrals with respect to the ions is determined by measuring the neutral and ion pulse rates, while the absolute efficiency is determined from the measurements of ion pulse rate with a Daly detector. The Bendix multiplier appears to have lower efficiency for the neutrals. (author)
