Interstitialcy transport in dilute alloys under irradiation

  • 1. Hahn-Meitner-Institut fuer Kernforschung Berlin, G.m.b.H. (Germany, F.R.)

Description

The configuration of self-interstitials has been shown to be of the dumbbell type whereever a firm determination of the structure was possible. Migration of such a defect should cause self-diffusion. Yet this effect needs to be demonstrated experimentally. Impurity diffusion via interstitialcy migration requires formation of the mixed dumbbell and mobility of this defect. The paper reviews quantitative experimental information on the impurity diffusion of the solutes Be and Ni in Cu. (author)
