Separation of isotopes of selected divalent elements by ion exchange

Creators

  • 1. Oak Ridge National Lab., Tenn. (USA)

Description

Separation factors were determined for beryllium (7Be-9Be), calcium (40Ca-47Ca), and cobalt (59Co-60Co) isotopes by ion exchange chromatography. Pairs of isotopes (one stable and one radioactive) were partially separated by ion exchange columns using the band elution technique. A combination of radioactive counting and microanalytical chemistry was used to assay the samples isotopically. The data were treated by the method of Glueckauf for the calculation of the separation factors. (author)
