(n,α) reactions on light nuclei with 14 MeV neutrons

Description
Some (n,α) reactions on light nuclei were studied with 13.9 MeV neutrons using a counter telescope. Differential cross sections were measured for the transitions to the ground state and some excited states. The experimental values are compared with the calculated strengths and with the differential cross sections of (p,α) and (d,α) reactions. The results provide evidence of a strong contribution from the direct reaction mechanism. With an improved counter telescope system the systematic study of the (n,α) reaction on light nuclei will be continued. (author)
