The synthesis of 18O-benzoquinones for vibrational studies
Description
The procedure developed for substituting 18O for 16O in the appropriate benzoquinone involves dissolving a small quantity of the deuterated compound in dry benzene and adding >95% enriched H218O. The sample is then evacuated, sealed, and shaken for several days to ensure complete exchange. The sealed tube was opened and the benzoquinone isolated and purified by sublimation
