Identification of irradiated onions by rooting and chromosomal aberrations

Description
The rooting behaviour and chromosomal aberrations for the detection of irradiation and its dose levels in onions was studied. Onions irradiated to different doses of 30, 60, 90, 120 and 150 Gy with γ-rays showed reduction in the number and length of the roots formed. Dicentrics were found to increase with the applied dose and a linear relationship up to 120 Gy was observed. (author)
