Description
Purpose : To surprisingly improve the resin life in a desalter by filling granular ion exchange resins in a desalter and remove ions in the seawater upon leakage thereof. Constitution : The cleanup system comprises a desalting tower for eliminating radioactive wastes and a regeneration device for ion exchange resins, and powderous ion exchange resins are filled in the desalter during normal operation to mainly eliminate wastes. Upon leakage of seawater, the powderous ion exchanger resins in the desalter are taken out and, thereafter, granular ion exchange resins are filled in the desalter to mainly eliminate ions in the seawater. If the amount of seawater leakage exceeds a reference value, the granular ion exchange resins are regenerated in the regeneration device. (Kawakami, Y.)
