Magnetic and transport properties of uniaxially compressed 2D-electron gas at grain boundaries of Hg1-xCdxTe (x=0.23) bicrystals

Description
A study was made into quantum oscillations of 2D-electron magnetoresistance in inverse layer at p-Hg1-xCdxTe (x=0.23) bicrystal boundary under all-round compression up to P=8 kbar and uniaxial compression of 1.5 kbar perpendicular to 2D-layer. Uniaxial compression was revealed to results in oscillation frequency and 2D-electron density increase for each of three energy levels observed as well as for quantum well. This is in contradiction to the data obtained for all-round compression when 2D electron density drops with pressure increase. 11 refs.; 3 figs
