Results from the WA93 experiment
- 1. Variable Energy Cyclotron Centre, Calcutta (India)
Description
The results from the WA93 experiment indicate the low pt enhancement for photons for S+Au collisions at 200 A GeV. This conclusion is drawn from the observation of photon spectra up to very low transverse momenta and from the results of photon multiplicity measurement. Rapidity and the multiplicity distribution of photons in high energy A-A collisions have been measured for the first time, and the results are compared with VENUS event generator. Another important observation from WA93 experiment is the observation of the azimuthal anisotropy as a consequence of collective flow phenomena, in S+Au collisions at SPS energy
