Investigation of heavy fermion systems by μSR

  • 1. Eidgenoessische Technische Hochschule, Zurich (Switzerland)

Description

Magnetic properties of heavy fermion systems are investigated by μSR. The μSR results show unambiguously the presence of some complicated magnetic order and strong static correlations in CeAl3 and U2Zn17 involving severely reduced effective moments below 10-1xμB. Signs of weak magnetism seem to be present in all the heavy fermion systems, studied by μSR. The weak magnetism is a characteristic property which needs to be taken into account into a full theoretical description of these heavy fermion systems
