The German waste repository Konrad

  • 1. Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt Braunschweig, (Germany)

Description

The site-specific safety assessments for the planned German waste repository Konrad are described which have to demonstrate its safety in the operational and the post-operational phase and to prove the compliance with the protection goals. The main emphasis in this paper will be laid on the post-operational phase discussing the geological and hydrogeological situation and the different models used for the calculations of the groundwater movements. Furthermore, different computer codes are applied. The last step are calculations modelling the migration of radionuclides from the repository area to the biosphere. 3 refs., 3 figs., 1 tab
