How to read publication guidelines for structural modelling of small-angle scattering data from biomolecules in solution

Description

Small-angle scattering (SAS) technique is now widely used for many structural biological studies. However, the technical development is so fast and the user community is so expanding that the community requires to establish the minimum reporting for assessing the quality of data and models. In 2011, the IUCr Commission on SAS published a paper on the preliminary guidelines for the representation of biomolecular structures from small-angle scattering data. In 2013, new assessment methods for the data and modeling have been proposed by Rambo and Tainer. This manuscript overviews these recent important advances for the standardization of SAS modeling, and introduces them to synchrotron x-ray small-angle scattering users. (author)
