Description
This book is to furnish geoscientists with an overview of the common methods of radiometric age determination, their bases and spheres of application. The first chapters outline the theoretical basis of the procedure in readily understandable form. This presentation omits complicated mathematical derivations in favour of illustrative graphs. The application of the different methods and interpretation of the results are discussed with reference to practical examples. (orig./PW)

Das vorliegende Buch soll dem Geowissenschaftler einen Ueberblick ueber die gaengigen Methoden der radiometrischen Altersbestimmung, deren Grundlagen und Anwendungsbereiche geben. In den ersten Kapiteln wird die theoretische Basis dieser Verfahren in leicht verstaendlicher Form aufgezeichnet. Dabei wird bewusst auf komplizierte mathematische Ableitungen zugunsten von anschaulichen graphischen Darstellungen verzichtet. Anhand von praktischen Beispielen wird dann die Anwendung der verschiedenen Methoden und die Interpretation der Ergebnisse diskutiert. (orig./PW)Additional details
