Regulatory Oversight and Control of the Physical Protection of Nuclear Materials and Nuclear Facilities and Compliance with the Requirements of the Convention on the Physical Protection of Nuclear Material (CPPNM) and Amendment Thereto

The paper introduces the application of the security policy and technology based on requirements of Convention on Physical Protection of Nuclear Material (CPPNM) and Amendment thereto in the Republic of Azerbaijan. The paper specifies activities in the Republic of Azerbaijan related to use of nuclear materials, the structure and details of the legislative and regulative framework, the creation of a regulatory body and describes its obligations and functions, provides information on measures to strengthen supervision and control over nuclear materials, applies measures to improve accounting procedures and tracking location of nuclear materials, as well as information on the existing infrastructure for authorization, inspection, inventory, export/import control and enforcement measures in this area.
